Sensex ends 147.28 pts up, capital goods stocks surge Tuesday, September 26 2006 17:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The benchmark Sensex rebounded on the Bombay Stock Exchange today (Sept 26, 2006) on revival of buying by funds in blue-chip stocks and closed higher by over 147 points.
The Sensex, which had lost about 63 points in previous day's trading, gained 147.28 points to close at 12,321.19 points, the highest closing since May 11.
It touched session's high of 12,331.45 and a low of 12,160.58 points.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index nifty gained 48.30 points at 3571.75 points after touching a high of 3576.75 points during the session.
The major contributors to the rise in the Sensex were, heavy-weighted Auto, oils, banking, steels, Inforomation Technology and capital goods stocks, which rose on buying by foreign as well as domestic funds.
