Sensex ends 233 pts up as banking, auto stocks rally Wednesday, September 13 2006 17:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

A flurry of buying by funds in heavy-weighted stocks, triggered by firming global markets, lifted the benchmark Sensex to close 233 points, or 2 per cent higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange today (Sept 13, 2006).
The Sensex, which had gained 110.10 points yesterday, shot up by another 233.00 points higher at 11,893.79 after touching session's high of 11,938.41 following significant rise in the heaviest on the index - Infosys Technologies, State Bank of India and Tata Motors stock prices.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty gathered 64.65 points at 3454.55 points. It touched a high of 3470.65 points earlier in the day.
