Sensex ends over 11,900 points on heavy buying

Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today (Sept 4, 2006) touched a four-month high level of 11,939.96 points on aggressive buying in heavy-weighted bluechip stocks by funds.

The market witnessed a flurry of buying, which pushed up the 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) by 136.19 points at 11,914.21, a level last seen on May 17. Earlier, it touched the day's high of 11,939.96.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index, Nifty, rose by 41.40 points at 3,476.85, after climbing to 3,483.10 earlier in the day.

Major support to the indices came in from banking, automobile, capital goods and tech segment stocks.
