Sensex surges by 331 points during early trade Thursday, July 20 2006 10:55 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Tracking global trends, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex, shot up by 331 points in early trading on the stock market today (July 20, 2006), on revival of buying by foreign as well as domestic funds.
The Sensex, which witnessed a five-day falling streak, bounced back by a whopping 331.22 points to quote at 10,338.56 in the first five minutes of trade.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty also shot up by 91.20 points at 3023.95.
Stock brokers said apart from firm global markets, expectations of excellent quarterly results to be announced later today by market major Reliance Industries, also influenced the trading sentiments.
Reliance Industries, heavy-weighted stocks shot up by Rs 27.85 at Rs 1,009.95.
Other major gainers were Infosys Technologies by Rs 63.15 at Rs 1,669, Tata Consultancy by Rs 45.90 at Rs 1,804 and Larsen and Toubro by Rs 81.60 at Rs 2,131.
Maruti Udyog, Tata Motors, Grasim Industries, HDFC, HDFC Bank and ACC also recorded notable gains.
