Friday, June 30 2006 17:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: In view of the increasing demand for coking coal, public sector behemoth SAIL will bid for coal mines in Australia jointly with Nilachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) soon, Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said today (June 30, 2006).

"SAIL and NINL would jointly bid for coal mines in Australia while in Canada and USA both these companies would bid separately," Paswan told reporters here.

He said the merger of IISCO with SAIL has been completed while the process of merging NINL and Bharat Refractories Limited (BRL) with SAIL is on.

"Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL) would be merged with Tata Steel," he said.
