The BSE benchmark index, Sensex, recovered sharply by over 287 points in early trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange today on emergence of buying by domestic and foreign funds.
The BSE-shares which had lost about 700 points in the last two trading sessions, recovered by 287.05 points at 9349.70 in the first ten minutes of trade.
Similarly, the Nifty index on the wide-based National Stock Exchange was up by 85.70 points at 2749.00.
Stock brokers said reports of firming trends in leading Asian markets, gaining over one per cent, influenced the trading sentiment here.
The major gainers were Grasim Industries by Rs 79.30 at Rs 1700.05, Bajaj Auto by Rs 77.35 at Rs 2311, BHEL by Rs 76.25 at Rs 1679.90, Infosys Technologies Rs 47.95 at
Rs 2689 and Reliance Industries Rs 29.25 at Rs 888.50.
Other gainers were ACC, Larsen and Toubro, Tata Consultancy, Wipro, Ranbaxy Laboratories and Reliance Energy.
