The benchmark Sensex continued its downward march by losing over 300 points in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange today (June 12,2006) on brisk profit selling by funds in blue-chip stocks.
The Sensex, which opened higher by 48 points, plunged in just a few minutes to record a hefty fall of 302.35 points at 9508.11 at 1130 hours. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty lost by 88.10 points at 2778.20.
The major draggers to the Sensex were Reliance Industries, Reliance Communication, Reliance Energy, Reliance Petroleum, Infosys Technologies, Grasim, ACC, Bajaj Auto, Larsen, Tata Consultancy, Tata Motors and Tata Steel.
