Sensex recoils 153 pts on funds buying in early trade

Mumbai: In two-way movement, the benchmark Sensex recovered by over 153 points in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange today (June 2, 2006) on revival of buying by domestic funds and retail investors.

The Sensex after a better start dipped temporarily by 59.97 points but recovered sharply by 153.29 points at 10,224.71 in first five minutes of trade. The Sensex had recorded about 715 points fall in the last two trading sessions.

Similarly, the Nifty index on the wide-based National Stock Exchange was up by 49.55 points at 3011.80 after declining to 2940.20.

Automobile sector stocks such as Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Hero Honda and Maruti Udyog were in good form on fresh buying triggered by strong May sales figures.

Other gainers were Reliance Industries, ONGC, HDFC, Grasim Industries, Tata Consultancy, BHEL, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers and Wipro.
