Sensex recovers at 11K level in the mid-session Wednesday, May 24 2006 12:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Led by strong buying by the domestic funds the benchmark Sensex once again crossed the 11,000 mark at noon today (May 24, 2006).
Commenced on a bearish note by losing nearly 200 points, the Bombay Stock Exchange regained strength on hectic buying by domestic as well as foreign funds and gained 178.18 points at 11,000.96. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index
Nifty, after a weak start, shot up by 50.40 points at 3249.75.
Stock brokers said buying by domestic financial institutions in heavy weighted stocks such as Grasim, Tata Steel, Reliance Ind, ACC, Infosys and Satyam Computers helped
in reversing the initial trend.
The initial weakness in the market was attributed to funds squaring up their pending positions in futures segment.
