FDI inflows to touch $10 billion this fiscal: Nath

New Delhi: The Government yesterday (May 16, 2006) said Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows during in the current fiscal is expected to touch the 10 billion dollar mark annually.

In 2005-06 inflows grew by 50 per cent to about 8.3 billion dollar against 5.5 billion dollar recorded last year. Based on these trends, FDI inflows into the country would touch a figure of 10 billion dollar annually from fiscal 2006-07, Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said in a statement.

FDI in the equity alone stood at 5.13 billion dollar, highest ever FDI equity inflow in the country, he added.

The reinvested earnings and other capital for the year under review is estimated at 3.2 billion dollar.

FDI inflow for March 2006 was 831 million dollar, 200 per cent higher than the same month previous year.
