Sensex retreats by 104 pts despite RIL's results
The stock market today (Apr 27, 2006) beat a hasty retreat and fell by 104 points despite impressive results announced by Reliance Industries (RIL), after funds resorted to wind up on the last day of derivatives contract.

Reliance Industries Ltd, India's largest private sector oil refiner, today (Apr 27, 2006) said net profit for the January-March quarter rose 9.2 per cent.

IOC sells one-fifth of 9.2 percent stake in ONGC
State-owned Indian Oil Corp today (Apr 27, 2006) sold a fifth of its 9.2 per cent stake in Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) to garner Rs 3,685 crore that will bridge the shortfall in revenue arising from non revision of fuel prices despite spiralling crude oil prices.

Rupee rallies against dollars during early trade
The rupee today (Apr 27, 2006) rallied against the US currency on exporter dollar sales amid a retreating dollar overseas, helped partly by positive sentiments following a renewed boom in the stock market.

The benchmark index again crossed 12,000 points just at the start of the trading today on the Bombay Stock Exchange on the back of massive buying by foreign as well as domestic funds in blue-chip stocks.

World oil prices dip in reaction to US stocks report
World oil prices slid in reaction to news that US gasoline and crude stockpiles fell by less than expected last week, dealers said.
