The benchmark sensex shot up by over 230 points at noon on the Bombay Stock Exchange today (Apr 26, 2006) on aggressive buying by funds in blue-chip stocks.
The sensex, which remained weak in the last three sessions by losing 392 points, spurted by 232.54 points at 11,878.32 at noon. National Stock Exchange index Nifty shot up by 74.10 points at 3536.75.
The current rally was on the back of heavy buying in automobile stocks led-by Maruti Udyog. The support was also extended by other auto stocks like Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda,
Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors, TVS-Motors and Hindustan Motors.
Index-heaviest ONGC rose by Rs.53.10 to Rs.1376, Reliance Ind. by Rs.15.35 to Rs.968.10, Infosys by Rs.80 to Rs.3228 and BHEL by Rs.40.10 to Rs.2374.
Among the 30 index shares on the Sensex, two were down while all others traded significantly higher.
