Rupee weakens further against dollar in early trade Wednesday, April 26 2006 11:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The rupee today (Apr 26, 2006) weakened further against the US currency during early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market following fresh dollar demand and firm global advices.
The Indian unit opened weak at Rs 45.0750/0900 per dollar from overnight close of Rs 45.00/01 a dollar and later was quoted at Rs 45.0650/0750 per dollar in late morning deals.
Attributing the weakness in rupee to firm dollar in world markets, forex dealers said there was fairly good dollar purchases due to approaching end of the month.
The dollar managed to recover partly in New York markets yesterday, supported by better-than-expected US existing home sales and consumer confidence.
