Sensex dips below magic 12k level on profit-selling Friday, April 21 2006 14:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

After swelling to a new high of 12,102.00 points, the Sensex dipped below the magic 12k level at mid-session on the Bombay Stock Exchange on profit-selling by funds, sparked by disappointing corporate results by Satyam Computers and NTPC.
The 30-share benchmark index dropped by 179.20 points to 11,860.35 at mid-session on agressive selling by foreign as well as domestic funds.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty also lost 56.40 points at 3,517.10 points, after touching an all-time high level of 3,573.50 points.
Satyam Computer Services, which traded at Rs 890 at the outset, dropped to Rs 809, losing Rs 62 after the announcement of its discouraging quarterly results.
NTPC's stocks lost Rs 4 at Rs 135.15 while the heavy weight Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Grasim, ACC and BHEL surrendered notable ground.
