The benchmark sensex set a new record high over 11,045 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange in early trading today (Mar 27, 2006) largely on brisk buying in blue chip shares.
The Sensex shot up by 95.13 points to 11,045.63 points in first 10 minutes of trading mainly supported by hefty rise in index-related shares.
Similarly, the Nifty index on the NSE surged by 31.20 points to touch new high of 3311.00 Brisk trading was witnessed in state-run index-related stocks of SAIL, attracting two block deals involving 14.03 lakh shares traded about Rs 4.05 higher at Rs 84.90.
Other gainers were Tata Steel, Grasim Industries, BHEL, State Bank of India, Cipla, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Lever, Tata Power, Larsen and Toubro, Bajaj Auto and Maruti Udyog.
