Sensex surges 116.66 points during early trade Friday, March 10 2006 10:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Mumbai:
Continuing with its upward march, the Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark index today shot up by about 116.66 points in the first five minutes of trading onthe back of massive buying by foreign funds in heavy-weighted stocks.
The BSE's Sensex, which had closed 10,573.54 points yesterday, opened higher at 10,581.64 and surged to 10,690.20 points, a rise of 116.66.
Similarly, NIFTY index on the NSE shot up by 31.35 points at 3,160.45.
The major gainers were BHEL, Larsen and Toubro, HDFC, Grasim, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Maurti, Hero Honda, Tata Power, Ciplaa, ONGC, ACC, Ranbaxy Lab,Satyam Computers,
Infosys Technologies and Tata Consultancy.
