Stock markets starts sliding after Union Budget

Mumbai: The capital markets began melting down soon after the Union Budget 2006-07 announced a transaction tax on securities.

The BSE Sensex was down by 50 points at noon, within five minutes of the presentation of the Budget by Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
