EAC pegs current account deficit at 2.9 per cent
Expressing concern over the divergence in trade data compiled by RBI and government, the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council today (Feb 22 2006) sought more transparency in the published data to inspire investors' confidence and said the current account deficit at less than 3 per cent for 2005-06 was still in the comfort zone.

Sensex touches new record high of 10,207.26 points
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (sensex) continued its rally and touched a new record high of 10,207.26 today (Feb 22 2006), surpassing the previous high of 10,195.51 on heavy buying by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) along with short covering by operators ahead of the expiry of the February contract on Thursday.
