The Bombay Stock Exchange sensitive index (Sensex) today (Feb 16 2006) zoomed to touch a new record high of 10,195.42 points during early trading on fresh bouts of heavy buying.
The BSE Benchmark 30-share Index (sensex) opened firm at 10,133.42 as against yesterday's close of 10,113.18 and shot up to a life-time intra-trade high of 10,195.42 within the first five minutes of trading and later was quoted at 10,158.08 at 10.10 a.m. showing a handsome recovery of 44.90 points over the previous close.
Dr Reddy's Lab stole the show during the morning session as it rallied to a high of Rs 1,250.00 from yestereday's close of Rs 1,172.05 on frantic buying after the news that the company has reportedly acquired Germany's firth largest genetic drug company, Belapharm for 480 million euro, brokers said.
