Sensex opens weak, moves down by 19 points today Tuesday, February 14 2006 11:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Mumbai:
The Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex today (Feb 14,2006) turned weak and dropped by 19 points during the early trading due to fresh bouts of profit selling at yesterday's (Feb 13,2006) higher level.
The index opened weak at 10,180.51 as against yesterday's high closing of 10,173.25 and after shooting up to touch an intra-day high of 10,185.06, fell back sharply and was quoted at 10,154.16 at 1030 hrs, showing a fresh fall of 19.09 over the previous day's close.
Barring a net selling of Rs 118.40 crore on February 8, Foreign Insitutional Investors (FIIs) remained net buyers in the current month with a net investment of Rs 3,112 crores.
Retail investors were reportedly booking profit at everysteep rally, brokers said.
During the early trading, Infosys Tech, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, L&T, ICICI Bank, ITC, IPCL, NTP, ACC, Cipla and HDFC remained depressed on heavy selling.
However, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Tata Consultancy Services(TCS), Reliance Energies Limited (REL),State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Power, ONGC, Maruti, Dr Reddy, Bharti, Bajaj Auto, Wipro, Grasim and GNFC were better on increased buying.
