The benchmark Sensex crossed 9900 points mark for the first time on the Bombay Stock Exchange in first five minutes of trading today(Jan 30,2006) and set a new peak at 9945.19 points.
Similarly, the Nifty on ther National Stock Exchange also touched a magic 3000 points level to touch 3002.20 points on aggressive buying by funds.
The BSE index which had soared 185 points to a record close of 9870.79 points on Friday, today opened higher at 9896.46 points following sustained rise in index-related stocks prices.
Major supporters to both the indices were BHEL, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies, Larsen and Toubro, Grasim, Dr Reddy, Reliance Energy and ACC.
