Tracking the global trend, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex surged to new peak of 9813.53 points level at noon today (Jan 27,2006)with most of the blue chip led by banking and auto shares notching up notable ground.
The Sensex opened with a wide gap of about 79 points at 9,764.26 against previous close of 9,685.74, spurted by 127.79 points at 9813.53, a new intra-trade high at 1215 hours, on
funds buying bolstered by a firm trend in global markets.
The ICICI Bank shot up by Rs.9.05 at Rs.606.40, State Bank of India by Rs.22.30 at Rs.907.55, HDFC Bank by 17.05 at Rs.735.65, Bajaj Auto by Rs.75 at Rs.2210.10, Maruti by Rs.22.20 at Rs.763.75, Hero Honda by Rs.16.10 at Rs.875.50, Reliance Industries by Rs.10 at rs.698 and Infosys by Rs.45 at Rs.2875.
At the same time, Japan's Nikkei rose by 570 points, Hang Seng by 200 points, the Taiwan by 90 points and the Kospi by 32 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite Index yesterday ended up by 99.73 points and 22.35 points respectively.
