Sensex quoted 33 pts up at 9423.28 in early trading
Tuesday, January 3 2006 10:58 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: In active trading, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index, Sensex, today (Jan 03, 2006) opened on a firm note and thereafter moved erratically and was quoted 33 points higher during the early trade.

The BSE benchmark 30-share index opened firm at 9401.83 and after moving between 9435.41 and 9390.79, was quoted at 9423.28 at 10.30 a.m., up by 33.14 points from yesterday's close of 9390.14.

Shares in the midcap segment were in the limelight during the early trading on good buying by institutional investors and rise in select index-heavyweights helped the Sensex to remain in the positive terrain. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) which made a good net investment of Rs 527 crores on Friday, brought the total weekly investment to Rs 884.80 crores which kept the sentiment cheerful, brokers said.

At the opening session, shares like Infosys Tech, BHEL, Satyam, SBI, Tata Motors, Tata Power, TCS, Tata Steel, ACC, Dr Reddy, Grasim, HDFC, Hero Honda and Maruti were firm on good support.
