AI fleet plan cleared as Boeing offers huge rebate
The empowered Group of Ministers today (Dec 24, 2005) gave its approval to Air-India's proposal to purchase 68 aircraft after completing final round of price negotiations with US manufacturer Boeing, which has offered massive discounts on the total value of the deal.

Air Deccan acquires 30 Airbuses for $1.5 billion
Air Deccan, India's No 01 low cost Airline announced its plans to purchase 30 more Airbus A 320's at a list price of $1.5 billion. The acquisition deal was signed with Airbus Industries earlier this week and the delivery will begin from 2008. Air Deccan had earlier this year placed orders for 32 Airbus A 320's and 30 ATR 72-500's and this fresh order will take up the total to 92 aircraft.

PM hints at tax, labour reforms in next fiscal year
Hinting at tax reforms during the next fiscal year, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Dec 24, 2005) assured the industry of better tax administration as he unveiled plans for Rs 60,000 crore investment in the port sector and Rs 40,000 crore for modernization of airports in the country.
