Sensex re-bounds by 50 pts during morning trade

Mumbai: After a day's pause, the sensex once again rallied at the opening session on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) here today (Dec 15, 2005) due to emergence of heavy low-level buying and regained smartly by 50 points.

The 30-share BSE sensitive index opened firm at 9259.78 as against yesterday's close of 9241.76 and after rising further to a session's high of 9294.13, was quoted at 9291.54 at 10.30 a.m., showing a fresh rise of 49.78 points over the previous close.

Yesterday, the index melted down from its highest ever level of 9309.01 on fresh bouts of profit selling and closed 22.14 points lower.

Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) had made good buying by making a whopping purchase of Rs 1163.90 crore on Tuesday, taking the total investment in December to Rs 2722 crores.

During the early trade almost all the blue-chip shares displayed smart rally on heavy buying by operators and retail investors.

The major gainers were RIL, Infosys Tech, Maruti, ONGC, REL, Satyam, Ranbaxy, L&T, Bajaj auto and Grasim.
