Sensex registers a new high peak; ends at 9061.31
Friday, December 9 2005 16:09 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index today (Dec 9, 2005) set a new high at 9061.31, surpassing the previous record of 9057.97, as aggressive funds purchased in several index-related shares led by Reliance Industries.

The BSE's 30-share Sensitive Index (Sensex), which had set a record high of 9,057.97 on December 2, remained volatile in the last few sessions and had dipped below 8,800 points at regained strength after the Bombay High Court today approved RIL's demerger scheme.

The second largest bourse, National Stock Exchange index Nifty also set a new record high at 2,754.00, recording a rise of 47.30 points.

The buying pressure, which was confined to blue-chip stocks at the outset, spilled over a wide-front at the fag-end covering almost all the segments.
