Bangalore: Telcon, a Joint Venture Company of Tata Motors Ltd., and Hitachi Machinery Co. Ltd. Japan yesterday (Dec 1, 2005) launched their new age smart excavators ZAXIS 120H and ZAXIS 450H.

The TATA Hitachi Zaxis Series is the latest in construction equipment technology, combined with microprocessor controls and information technology to bring about unmatched benefits to its users.

Telcon is one of the leading manufacturers of construction equipments namely Excavators, Backhoes, Dumpers, Cranes & Vibratory Compactors to name a few and is backed by TATA and Hitachi's unmatched quality and support.

Telcon's world-class manufacturing facilities are located in Jamshedpur and Dharwad, with an output capacity of over 5000 machines per annum.

Telcon has over 1200 people across the country and revenues of Rupees 930 crores (2004-05).

Telcon plays a major role in the country's infrastructure development areas by providing reliable solutions for constructions, mining, irrigation, cabling, building canals, laying roads among others.

Mr. Ranaveer Sinha, Telcon's Managing Director, said, "Telcon is a pioneer in Building indigenous equipment in the construction equipment industry. We have now introduced a third dimension-Information Technology to complement the existing state-of-the-art hydraulics and engineering. The 'ZAXIS' will be one of the best of breeds' intelligent excavators in the markets. We currently have a share of 60% in the excavator markets. We are looking at capturing a larger market share with the introduction of the Zaxis range. Telcon is planning to make substantial strategic investment in R&D and increase its presence in the country. We are growing steadily at 35% per annum. We are strengthening our overseas presence and will step-up our marketing efforts to capture new markets."

Mr. Vikram Raje, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), Telcon said, "The Zaxis range will have onboard information controller 'ICX' which monitors and records critical operational parameters of the machine on a real-time basis. This will provide a wealth of information and data that will enable the user to analyse and optimise operations. Zaxis120H designed for work in construction industry and Zaxis450H engineered for the mining industry, are the first of the Zaxis series excavators to be manufactured in India. The Zaxis Series will be premium offerings in addition to Telcon's proven EX-Series excavators."
