'3-3.5 pc growth expected in agriculture in 2005-06' Thursday, December 1 2005 11:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  New Delhi:
The government today (December 1, 2005) said it expects a 3-3.5 per cent growth in the agriculture sector during the current fiscal.
"We expect 3-3.5 per cent agriculture growth in 2005-06," Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar told reporters here.
The normal rainfall in Kharif has brightened the growth prospect this year, he added.
During the second quarter of this fiscal, the farm sector registered two per cent growth as against zero growth during the same quarter last year.
Deficient South West monsoon led to 1.1 per cent growth for the agriculture sector in 2004-05.
