Sensex rises by 47 points during early trading Friday, November 25 2005 11:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Mumbai:
The Sensex today (Nov 25, 2005) started on a strong note and rose by 47 points at the opening session on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) due to persistent buying, mainly by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).
The BSE benchmark 30-share sensitive index resumed with overnight strength at 8760.70 as against 8744.04 yesterday and after moving in a range of 8807.33 and 8760.70, was quoted at 8791.53 at 10:30 a.m., showing a further gain of 47.49 points from the previous close.
Persistent support from FIIs and good backup by operators helped prices to gain further momentum, which pushed the index up smartly.
FIIs made a net investment worth Rs 311.80 crores on Wednesday and with this the total buying during the current week till November 23 stood at Rs 903.10 crores and in the full month FIIs made a total net investment of Rs 3026 crores, brokers said.
During early trading, Infosys Tech, Satyam Computers, Bajaj Auto, SBI, Grasim, Bharti Tele, BHEL, Dr Reddy, Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, ITC, ONGC, HLL, Tata Motors, REL, TCS, Tata Steel, Tata Power, Ranbaxy, GACL, Cipla, ACC and Hindalco were quoted firm on good buying.
However, RIL, L&T, Wipro and HDFC were moderately weak.
