Sensex shoots up by 79 points during morning trade Thursday, November 24 2005 11:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The Bombay Stock Exchange Benchmark30-share Index (Sensex) today (Nov 24, 2005) shot up by another 79 points at the opening session due to heavy buying activity.
The Sensex opened with overnight strength at 8655.14 yesterday's (Nov 23, 2005) close of 8638.34 and rose further sharply to an intra-session high of 8726.72. It was quoted at 8717.74 at 10.30 a.m., showing a sharp gain of 79.40 points over yesterday's close.
Attributing the steep rise in share prices to the re-entry of Foreign Investment Investors (FII) into the market, brokers said FII made a net investment of Rs 423.70 on Monday and Rs 167.60 on Tuesday, making a total net investment of Rs 591.30 crores during the two days of the current week.
Firm overseas advices also aided the market sentiment to a large extent as the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by 44.66 points and the Nasdaq Composite Index by 6.42 points, they said.
During early trading, a large number of index-based scrips such as Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Infosys Tech, Ranbaxy, Dr Reddy, Bajaj Auto, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Grasim, State Bank of India (SBI),Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Reliance Energies Limited (REL), Wipro, Satyam, ONGC, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors and Tata Steel displayed sharp gains.
