Ministers' visit to boost Indo-Israel trade affairs
Saturday, November 5 2005 10:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Tel Aviv: Amid a remarkable growth this year, Indo-Israel bilateral trade is slated for a further boost with Minister for Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar slated to visit the country in the coming weeks.

Nath will be a keynote speaker at the opening plenum of the Prime Minister's Conference for Export and International Cooperation and Israel Gateway 2005 scheduled on the ninth and tenth of November.

The Commerce minister's visit will be followed by the visit of Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar between November 13 to 16, to participate in the tenth commemoration ceremony of late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Pawar will be meeting his Israeli counterpart, Yisrael Katz, during the visit.

"The events are designed to give Israeli companies insight on doing business with participating countries. We have outlined India as one of the main target countries for exports", Chairman of Israel Exports Institute, Yechiel Assia said.

The report of the Joint Study Group (JSG), which was formed to explore ways to enhance the scope of bilateral trade between the two countries to the level of USD five billion by the end of 2008, is also likely to be released during the Commerce minister's visit, officials here said.

"There has been a positive atmosphere in trade and economic relations between India and Israel and going by the trends this target looks within reach", Indian Ambassador to Israel Arun Kumar Singh said.
