US Treasury Secretary Snow to visit India next week
Tuesday, November 1 2005 13:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Washington: US Treasury Secretary John Snow will visit India next week to discuss liberalizing the Indian economy and India's role in global trade talks, his department announced yesterday (Oct 31, 2005).

Snow will arrive on November 7 and stay four days for talks with Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram in New Delhi, will visit to the Mumbai stock exchange and will give a keynote speech to business leaders.

The Treasury Department said the visit will "Highlight the growing economic relationship and financial ties between the United States and India."

It added in a statement that Snow "Will discuss the strong potential of the Indian economy, focusing on efforts to further liberalize the financial sector and improve financing infrastructure, as well as India's role in the upcoming Doha round of trade talks."

He will visit India's main stock exchange in Mumbai on November 8 and hold talks with Chidambaram in New Delhi the following day.

Snow visited China, Asia's leading economic powerhouse, earlier this month.
