'Karnataka Govt to clear Rs 20,000 crore projects' Thursday, September 22 2005 20:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Private projects with proposed investment of around Rs 20,000 crore would be cleared by Karnataka Government in the first week of next month, Finance and Industries Minister P G R Sindhia said today (Sept 22, 2005).
Sindhia told reporters here that they would receive nod at a high-level meeting to be chaired by Chief Minister N Dharam Singh.
According to official sources, the projects to be cleared include that of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a joint venture of Toyota Motor Corp and the Kirlsokar Group, which is reported to be seeking to expand its presence in India.
TKM has a plant at Bidadi, near here, where it has so far invested nearly Rs 1,500 crore.
Meanwhile, Sindhia said the state-level single window clearance committee at its meeting cleared 32 projects involving Rs 815.64 crore investment, with an employment potential of 28,200 people.
The projects included a Rs 48 crore bulk drugs project proposed to be taken up at Hassan Special Economic Zone by Strides Arcolab Ltd and a Rs 46 crore R & D centre for pharma and biotechnology at Mysore by Noida-based Jubilant Organosys Ltd.
Hotel projects of TAJ GVK Hotels & Resorts Ltd at Nagawara viallage, near here, (Rs 49.70 crore), of Hanu Technologies & Facilities Ltd at the same village (Rs 43.71 crore) and of M S R Hotel (Bangalore) Pvt Ltd here (Rs 43 crore) also received the nod.
