Bangalore: Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) today (Sept 22, 2005) announced that it has withdrawn its boycott of IT.IN. This decision comes in lieu of the assurance of the Karnataka State Government to work towards development and maintenance of Bangalore Infrastructure.

Anant Koppar, President of BCIC said, "Bangalore Chamber's intention to boycott IT.IN was not to disrupt the event but to draw the attention of the Government and civic bodies to take immediate action to safe guard the city Infrastructure. We believe that we have achieved our goal."

He also said that the Government had made a promise and now they have to focus on the areas of their promise and build confidence.

"Bangalore Chamber withdraws the boycott with all due respect and supports the event in full earnest. We also recommend that the Government showcases its vision for Bangalore during IT.IN for all communities across the world," he said.

Responding to the Government gesture, Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy declared, "there is no question of boycott of IT.in. The Government is organising the event for the benefit of the industry".
