The Bombay Stock Exchange (sensex) climbed to new peak of 8202.04 points today (Sept 13, 2005), a level never seen before, as aggressive funds continued to purchase index-heavy stocks.
The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also surged quoted over 2500 mark and covered the journey from 2000 level in just 80 days. It was last quoted at 2013.90 points on May 23, 2005.
The sensex registered the highest level in last ten minutes of trading as index-linked stocks of Reliance Industries, Reliance energy, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers, Wipro, ITC Ltd, Housing Development, Bajaj Auto, State Bank of India, Maruti Udhyog and Dr Reddy Lab recorded heavy gains.
