New Delhi: The Government today (Aug 22, 2005) said power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) is inducting technology from global giants for modernisation of existing power plants.

"BHEL has formed technical collaboration for gas turbines with General Electric of the US and for steam turbines and generators with Siemens of Germany," Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

He said the company has been entering into technical collaboration from time to time with foreign firms to meet the emerging market requirements.

Replying to another question, Dev said 92 central PSUs have been identified as sick for the purpose of consideration by Board for Reconstruction of Public Enterprises (BRPSE).

So far, the BRPSE has received proposals for revival of 34 companies, of which it has considered 22 and given its recommendation in respect of 17 cases.

Dev said of the 17 cases approved by BRPSE, the Union Cabinet has cleared the revival of Hindustan Salts, B J Construction and National Textiles Corporation and its subsidiaries.
