FII record net purchases in equities at Rs 495.9 cr Sunday, August 21 2005 11:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) recorded net purchases in equities at Rs 495.9 crore (USD 113.9 million) for the trading week ended August 19, 2005 while mutual funds (MFs) were also net purchasers at Rs 285.23 crore.
The foreign funds were net sellers in the debt market at Rs 90 crore (USD 20.70 million) for the period under review, according to the data available with the Securities and
Exchange Board of India (SEBI) here.
The mutual funds were net purchasers in the debt market at Rs 1251.74 crore.
The foreign funds recorded highest net inflows of the trading week in equities at Rs 274.90 crore (USD 63.20 mn) on August 16, 2005 followed by Rs 156.30 crore (USD 35.90 mn) on August 18, 2005.
FIIs were net sellers in the debt market at Rs 90 crore (USD 20.70 mn) on August 17, 2005 and did not participate during the remaining trading days.
MFs recorded highest net purchases in the equity market on August 16, 2005 when they picked up equity worth Rs 132.04 crore.
The highest purchases by MFs in debt market were on August 17, 2005 at Rs 573.52 crore followed by purchases of Rs 396.46 crore on August 18, 2005.
The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, (BSE), during the week under review, saw the sensex gaining 13.27 points to close at 7780.76 points.
