Texas Instruments Inc to continue its expansion Tuesday, August 9 2005 16:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Leading electronics firm Texas Instruments Inc. Chairman Thomas J Engibous today (Aug 9, 2005) said the company would continue its expansion in India and expected China to be the largest market for the world's first single chip solution for mobile phones launched by TI.
"We have been under massive expansion plans in India for a number of years. We will continue to expand", Engibous told reporters, while characterising TI's expansion in India as 'probably one of the most dramatic that we have had in the company'.
Asked about plans for investment in India, he said the company had more than doubled its workforce in the last five years and 'probably, we will continue to increase it. Without
question, we see TI India continue to grow'.
TI started as a 'humble young organisation' but had now turned into a mainstream RandD centre in TI with works on mission critical designs of the company being undertaken in
Bangalore, he said.
To a query, he said it was 'highly likely' that the largest market for the single chip solution for cellular phones launched by the company in Delhi yesterday, would be
China.
TI had a 'very large business' in China, which was the largest cell phone market in terms of subscribers for the last four or five years, he said.
TI, a leading provider of analog and DSP technologies, was the first multinational company to set up software development facility in Bangalore in 1985. The single chip solution for mobile phones was designed and developed in Bangalore centre.
