In the wake of inundation of its facilities during last week's heavy rains in the city, Reliance Energy Ltd (REL) today (Aug 2, 2005) announced a Rs 1 bn disaster management plan to cope with unprecedented natural calamities in future.
"Based on current learning, the disaster management plan will focus on safety, reliability, back up and stand-by of the network on a world class basis," Reliance Energy Chairman Anil Ambani told reporters in Mumbai today.
He said Reliance Energy would restore power to 21,000 residential units, which are in the dark since last week within next 12 hours provided there was no further downpour.
"We will restore power to 21,000 residential units in Kurla, Saki Naka, Kalina and other areas with in next 12 hours provided there is no downpour," Ambani said.
Over 23.65 lakh of the total 24-lakh Reliance Energy customers have power supply as of today with the company having mobilized additional contingents of 300 engineers and equipment from other locations across the country, he said.
