Sensex breaches 7500-mark for first time in history
Monday, July 25 2005 15:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Riding high on a fresh buying spree, the benchmark today (July 25, 2005) breached the 7500-mark for the first time in the history of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) as Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) stepped up their purchases on Indian bourses.

The market was distinctly bullish despite a warning to investors by Finance Minister P Chidambaram against getting carried away by the booming stocks.

Starting on a promising note at 7427.65 as against last Friday's close of 7423.25, the sensex surged up past the 7500-level to a high of 7505.52 before being quoted at 7491.09 at 1 p.m., up by 67.84 points.
