Airtel launches 'Wireless Data Card' @ Rs 13,000

Mumbai: Airtel on Thursday (July 21, 2005) launched a card that will enable subscribers to access Internet through wireless medium in India and abroad.

The Airtel Wireless Data Card has been priced at Rs 12,999, company informed in a press release.

The card is GPRS and EDGE compatible and works on Airtel networks within the country and on GSM networks outside India, it added.

The card is about the size of a credit card and comes with three monthly rental plans, the lowest being Rs 399.

It was launched in 13 cities across the country including four metros, the release said.

On the EDGE-enabled networks, the card offers Internet access at speeds of up to 100 Kbps.

It would also be possible to send/receive SMS through the laptop using the card, the release added. The company is offering a two-year warranty on the card.
