Basab Pradhan, senior Infosys official, quits

Bangalore: Basab Pradhan, who as Head of worldwide sales, oversaw Infosys Technologies Limited's global sales strategy and direction in more than 30 countries in which the NASDAQ-listed firm does business, has quit.

A company official confirmed today (July 19, 2005) that Pradhan, who joined the Bangalore-headquartered company in 1994, has put in his papers. Pradhan is believed to be starting his own venture, according to sources.

As strategic unit head, he had operational responsibility for the retail, distribution, consumer packaging goods, insurance, healthcare, transportation, communication service providers and life sciences verticals.

In addition to his primary responsibility, which consisted of driving growth for Infosys global services business, he was one of Infosys' principal thought leaders on the subjects of outsourcing and IT strategy.

After joining the software major more than a decade back, Pradhan served in various capacities, including Regional Manager and Vice-President of Sales for West and Midwest North America.

Prior to joing Infosys, he held various management positions with Unilever in their India office. Pradhan received a Bachelor's degree in technology from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur and a Master's degree in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
