Bangalore: Information technology and IT-enabled Services will continue to drive the employment generation in the country for the quarter July-September 2005, according to a Ma Foi Employment Survey.

"Jobs will move to South India with the service sector leading in what can be called a mild growth quarter," K Pandian Rajan, managing director, Ma Foi Management Consultants Ltd said.

"Karnataka leads in hiring trends with Bangalore bouncing back to top position in IT and ITeS recruitment," Rajan said.

The other States in line are Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, he added. The survey also indicated a massive movement of jobs from unorganised sector to the organised sector.

The current strength of organised sector employment in India is 4.8 crore (48 million) while in the unorganised sector it is 37 crore (370 million), he said.

"Our findings suggest that this is a cooling off period in employment generation. There is also negative growth in sectors like energy where the net employment has come down over the last quarter," Rajan said.

The rate of attrition in the organised sector is at 7.72 per cent. It is highest in ITeS (23.6 per cent) followed by IT (16 per cent).
