Siemens bags Rs 325 cr contract for B'lore airport Friday, July 15 2005 14:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) group of Siemens AG Germany and Siemens India Limited has bagged contracts totalling approximately Rs 325 crore from Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) for supply and services of technical systems for the Greenfield Airport project near Bangalore.
Of the Rs 325 crore, the estimated value of the contract awarded to Siemens Limited's I and S Division was Rs 1750 million while Siemens AG's contract was approximately Rs 1500 millions, according to sources Bangalore on July 15, 2005).
Siemens Limited India has been awarded the engineering and procurement and commissioning contract, covering the complete project management and turnkey electrification, including design and engineering supply, installation, testing, commissioning and training for electrical systems such as substations, flood-lighting and terminal building.
The scope of Simens AG contract includes the supply of the airport's technical systems for the airfield lighting, aerobridges, baggage handling, security, IT, public address
system, telecommunication, medium voltage distribution substations, diesel generators and 11 KV cables.
The contracts are to be executed within 30 months. According to OP Narula, Director Simens Limited, "This is a prestigious order for both Siemens in India and Germany as
it marks a beginning for us in India in field of airports".
The new international airport covering about 3900 acres and located at Devanahalli, around 30 kms away from Bangalore is the country's first private-public partnership in the airport sector.
To be executed in several phases, the airport will eventually have two runways, 120 aircrafts stands two terminal buildings and can handle 40 million passengers.
