BSE: Sensex jumps to new all-time intra-trade high Monday, July 4 2005 11:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The sensex today jumped to a new all-time intra-trade high of 7263.32 during morning trading in scrip-specific activity on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on the back of sustained FII inflows and fresh buying interest from domestic investors today (June 04, 2005).
After a weak start at 7186.74 as against last Friday's close of 7210.77, the sensex later turned strong on sudden buying spree and rallied sharply to a high of 7263.32 before being quoted at 7242.23 at 10.30 a.m., up by 31.46 points.
A sharp fall in inflation number to two-year low of 4.10 per cent for the week ended June 18 coupled with heavy flow of foreign investments boosted the sentiment.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) seemed to be the main driving force behind the market.
FIIs have pumped in a hefty Rs 4508 crore during June and the inflows are expected to increase in the near future with over 100 registration of new FIIs in the past six months, brokers said.
Key counters like RIL, SBI, Wipro, Satyam Computers, ACC, ONGC, ICICI Bank, Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, Dr Reddy's Lab, Cipla and BHEL were quoted remarkably up on fresh buying support.
However, a few heavyweighted counters showed moderate losses.
