Raza Microelectronics launches operations in India

Bangalore: Atiq Raza, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, today (Jun 27, 2005) launched RMi Technologies India Pvt Ltd (RMI India), the city-based operations of Raza Microelectronics Inc, a fabless semiconductor company.

Backed by Warburg Pincus and Benchmark Capital, RMI designs, develops and sells a portfolio of 'leading edge, highly programmable' silicon solutions, which are 'uniquely' positioned to enable growing convergence of networking and computing systems designs, an RMI statement said.

RMI also announced the new XLR family of Thread Processors and the Orion Family of Intelligent Access Processors, built to transform the 'information infrastructure'.

"With the introduction of two new groundbreaking processor designs, RMI's investment in India represents a significant infusion of leading edge technology to the region", said venture investor and processor pioneer, Vinod Khosla in the statement.

"We are exited about the contribution of the Bangalore team to our expanding global presence", said Atiq Raza, RMI Founder, Chairman and CEO. "With RMI India, we are harnessing India's well-known creativity and technical expertise to deliver the highest quality silicon, software and systems solutions for the Information Infrastructure".
