BSE: Sensex touches new all-time high of 7010.92 Tuesday, June 21 2005 11:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The Sensex today (Jun 21, 2005) once again hit the magic 7000-mark and even touched a new all-time intra-trade high at 7010.92 during morning trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on selective buying support from investors.
The BSE Benchmark 30-share Index opened fractionally up at 6985.91 as against yesterday's close of 6984.50 and later rallied smartly to a high of 7010.92 before being quoted at 7004.21 at 1030 hrs (IST) up by 19.71 points.
ONGC attracted brisk activity and was quoted remarkably up on fairly heavy buying support prompted by the company's recommendation of an interim dividend of Rs 20 per share.
Investors reportedly were making purchases in select blue chip counters on the back of steady flow of investments from Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), which reported net investments of Rs 229.50 crore last Friday.
Tata Steel, Tata Motor, SBI, ICICI Bank, Cipla and a few others were quoted moderately up on fresh buying support.
However, Bharti Tele-Venture, BHEL, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Infosys Tech, Satyam Computers and TCS Ltd showed marked falls due to selling pressure.
