Sensex sets new record; touches 7057.31 at noon

Mumbai: The Sensex remained bullish today (Jun 21, 2005), touching new highs at 7,057.31 points during mid-session, with most of the blue-chip stocks led by Reliance group companies gaining further ground on aggressive buying.

The Sensex, which had breached the magic 7,000-mark level yesterday, continued to rise by adding 73.76 points at 7,057.31 on the strength of foreign and domestic funds involving in block deals at Reliance Industries, Reliance Energy, Reliance Capital, Cipla, Infosys Technologies, ONGC and Grasim Industries.

With the buoyancy in the market, the second wide-based NSE index Nifty shot up to an all-time high of 2,167.55 from yesterday's close of 2,144.35.
