CHAMPS confident of building prototype in India Sunday, June 19 2005 13:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Singapore:
Changi Airport Managers and Partners (CHAMPS), which has entered into a joint venture with Bharti Enterprises for modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports, has claimed it would develop a prototype of the Singapore airport and would upgrade it for operations of the double-decker Airbus A-380 aircraft.
Changi, in partnership with Bharti and DLF, was ready to share its expertise and vision for transforming the Delhi and Mumbai airports into state-of-the-art facilities in order to not only provide speedy and efficient clearances but also to pamper the air travellers with luxury, Goh Chong Long, Director (Operations) of Changi Airport, told reporters in Singapore.
His partner, Rajan Bharti Mittal, Joint Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises, said there will be a paradigm shift in Indian aviation once the state-of-the-art international airport becomes a reality. Such an airport would be a small township in itself.
Goh, who also holds the position of Director (Public and International Relations), said the leading consortium had already prepared plans for upgrading the terminal buildings, constructing new ones as also making provisions to accommodate the world's largest aircraft, the A-380.
He said CHAMPS and their consortium partners were eagerly waiting to enter the Indian aviation market and expressed confidence that it would make the metro airports in India as customer friendly as Changi, which has been conceptualised to pamper travellers.
