Sensex edges up by three points at early trading Thursday, June 16 2005 11:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Mumbai:
Shares of RIL and REL were quoted higher at the opening session on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today (Jun 16, 2005) with the Sensex showing a marginal gain of 2.85 points at 6909.83.
Reliance Industries opened firm at Rs 576.90 and after moving up to Rs 583.90 was quoted at 581.90 at 10.30 a.m. as against yesterday's (Jun 15, 2005) close of Rs 574.95.
Similarly, REL started strong at Rs 592.00 and after touching a high of Rs 594.00, was quoted at Rs 589.00, also higher than the previous close of Rs 586.75.
The fresh bouts of buying in Reliance shares was the result of yesterday's reports that the two Ambani siblings, Mukesh and Anil, could resolve their nagging differences by July 6 which brought confidence among investors, a broker said.
The BSE benchmark 30-share sensitive index opened flat at 6906.12 as against yesterday's close of 6906.98 and thereafter rose to a high of 6926.72.
Thereafter, it moved down temporarily to 6903.56, before being quoted at 6909.83 at 10.30 a.m., showing a small gain of 2.85 points over the last close.
Apart from RIL and REL, other major gainers during the early trading were Bajaj Auto, BHEL, Infosystch, ITC, SBI, Hindalco, Satyam, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Tata Steel, TCS, GACL, Cipla, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Grasim, Hero Honda and HLL.
However, Bharti, Dr Reddy, ICICI Bank, L&T, ONGC, Rafmbax and Wipro were lower.
